FAREWELL JUDY WASHINGTON
Judy Washington has served with distinction as Local History
Librarian for more than 20 years.
During this time she has enriched our lives by patiently
collecting information on the history and development of Lane
Cove, and in preserving and cataloguing this valuable collection
so that it can be easily accessed by all.
Judy has been particularly effective in documenting the history
of Greenwich, and has been most generous with her time in
making numerous presentations to us. Her most recent illustrated
talk on Greenwich at Federation on 28th
November 2001 was a well-attended highlight.
Judy will reminisce briefly on some of the highlights during
her long period of service here, and we will conclude our
meeting by adding farewell drinks to our usual closing supper
session.

WHERE ARE YOUR LAWN CLIPPINGS GOING - A QUESTION
When you have your lawns cut, where are the clippings going
??? Some contractors are just tipping them over the fence
into adjacent bushland reserves. The various bush regeneration
programmes that have been showing such wonderful results in
recent years have been hampered by such practices.
Grass clippings, when dumped or washed from adjacent gardens
are bad for regeneration as they introduce seeds of incompatible
grasses and weeds into the balanced natural native environment.
If you have a contract lawn mower please make sure they are
disposing of clippings satisfactorily
