FROM THE NEW PRESIDENT
Where to in 2003? A topic on the agenda of the first meeting of the Executive Committee precipitated a number of ideas. The priorities were deemed to be,
a) planning for a Community Day for Greenwich (with possible support from Lane Cove Council),
b) providing ways for GCA to assist other community groups and the school through the web site (www.greenwich.org.au) and events, and
c) to keep an active role in seeing that the planning rules for the area are maintained and not being continuously eroded. Community and residents' values of the area are being compromised through over-development.
It is these community and resident values which frequently attract people to the area in the first place. GCA looks forward to more of you joining and participating.
Development is a key issue at the moment with Ministerial approval being given for a 240 to 260 unit apartment complex on Greenwich’s Duntroon Avenue, decisions to be made on Austin Street in Lane Cove, Council decisions being challenged in the Land and Environment Court, and approved developments not meeting their Conditions of Approval. Dr Tony Recsei (Save our Suburbs) will be the speaker at the General Meeting on April 16th - put the date in your diary and come along.

WEB PAGE
The web site www.greenwich.au was always intended to be a community facility, not just an GCA web site
Work on the web site has now been completed that will allow other Greenwich community groups to use of it
This could be either a single page giving the name, general activities and contact information; or it may be several pages with additional group information such as a the soccer and the netball clubs including their season fixture program with dates, times, locations, and opposing teams to be easily accessible to interested members.
For other groups it may be just occasional information, such as FOGS when they're Fun Run is due, or the Greenwich Games during that year.
If a group already has its information on another site, a hyperlink can be put up to take enquires straight to that site
Any groups interested in using this facility should send in an email to admin@greenwich.org.au
AUSTIN STREET CAR PARK
All residents should have received in their letterboxes pamphlets showing the two proposals, Council’s and Woolworths, for the use of the car park site in Austin St behind the Council library.
If you do not have copies they are available at Council Chambers or at the libraries
One of the matters for discussion will be residents opinions of which of these is in the best interests of the community. Please study them and bring your views to the meeting
BUSHCARE GROUPS
Now in successful and regular operation at Manns Pt and Greendale Reserve.
Anybody wishing to start a new group for another Greenwich bushlands area, or wanting to join the present groups, contact Rosanna Lucas, on 9911 3579 or email rlucas@lanecove.nsw.gov.au
