brings to fruition years of effort by the P&C and its project coordinator,
Deborah McDougall. Come to our meeting to hear Deborah tell us more
on the history and funding of this project, and how it will develop
further in future.
FOGS FUN RUN + P&C Fair
Some 207 runners, 193 walkers and 25 dogs enjoyed a fine day on the
occasion of our 10th Friends of Greenwich School Fun Run on 14th September.
The P&C laid on a wonderful fair, and the combined event raised
over $17,000 of additional funding the school.
The community spirit was positively effervescent, and the children’s
music a particular delight. Our heartfelt thanks to all organisers,
donors and helpers.

BILLY BLUE PALACE – UPDATE

response – a copy of which has been placed in Greenwich Library and
on the website. About 170 submissions have been lodged with Council opposing
the proposed major redevelopment of this prominent site. No date has yet
been given as to when Council Officers’ report will be available for

DEDICATION OF MEMORIAL TO SHAHAB KARGARIAN
Shahab, a young man who loved the peace and quiet of Greenwich for sitting,
thinking and watching the lights of the city on a spring evening, was
shot dead near Greenwich Road three years ago. His family and friends,
with Council’s permission, has commissioned a memorial, designed
by Robbie Cunningham and sculpted by Chris Bennetts. This memorial,
at the northern end of Shell Park, was dedicated on October 8th with
many family members, friends, locals and Councillors attending. Please
take time to visit it.
AUSTIN ST CAR PARK
After an extensive community opinion survey and much debate, Council
will finally determine on October 20th which form of car park will be
built on the Austin St site in Lane Cove, and whether the proposal from
Woolworths for a large supermarket is acceptable.
Both alternative schemes incorporate a much needed extension to Lane
Cove Library.
GREENWICH WEB SITE
The web site receives over 1,000 visitors so
far this year.
